        14. The officers of the B’nei Yisrael were beaten— ñ flÑêÖþÐNÌ−−¤ÑòÐa ·−ÑþÐ¬Ò ÞLe†kŠiÔî .ð−  This will be the proof that I have sent you— E−¢ÌzÐìÔñÐL−£Ì×ÒòÞÖê−'Ìk³B flêÖí ¤EÐl-íÓïÐî
       those whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had appointed— íÒ£¼ÐþÔõ−'ÑNÐèÒÞòó flÓíÑñμeô¤ÖN-þÓLÎê      when you bring the people out of Egypt— óÌ− flÔþЮÌnÌô ·óÖ¼Öí-³Óê ¥EÎê−ÞÌ®BíÐa
                                    and were told, þÒ¢ôêÑñ                                        you will serve Elohim on this mountain.” :íÞÓfÔíþ'ÖíÖíñ£Ô¼ó− flÌíGÍê¤Öí-³Óê ·öeðÐëÔ¼ÞÔz
             “Why have you not completed your quotas ó¥Ó×КÖìó·Ó³−ÌlÌ× »êG Ô¼e”cÔô                            13. Moshe said to Elohim, ó−†ÌíGÍêÞÖí-ñÓêí •ÓLô þÓôêÒ·iÔî .è−
                                                                                                  “Behold, when I come to the B’nei Yisrael ›ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−−¤ÑòÐa-ñÓê ‡ êÖë−¤Ì×ÒòÞÖêí·ÑpÌí

                                                                                                                     and say to them, ó flÓíÖñ−¤ÌzÐþÔôÞÖêÐî

                            The officers were Israelites  e−Öí ó−ÌñÑêÐþÐNÌ−ó−ÌþЬBMÔí
                                                                                                              What shall I say to them?” :óÞÓíÑñÎêþ£ÔôÒêí'Öô
                   and they took pity on their fellow-men  óÓí−ÑþÐëÔìñÔ¼ó−̽ÖìÐî
                                                                                                              14. Elohim said to Moshe, í flÓLô-ñÓê ·ó−ÌíGÍêþÓôêÒ¥iÔî .ð−
                            and did not pressure them  ,óÖšÐìÖðÐñÌô
                        and when they tallied the bricks  ó−ÌòÑëÐlÔíó−Ìô−ÌñÐLÔôe−ÖíÓLÐ×e                       “Eheyeh Asher Eheyeh;” í¢Ó−ÐíÞÓêþ¤ÓLÎêí£Ó−ÐíÞÓê
                  for the taskmasters, who were Egyptians  ,ó−ÌiÌþЮÌôóÑíÓLó−ÌNÐèBpÔñ

           they [the Egyptians] would beat them (the officers)  óÖ³Bê ö−ÌšÐñÔôe−Öí
                         for not pressuring the workers.  ,íÖ×êÖñÐnÔí−ÑNB¼ ³ÓêešÎìÖðêHÓLñÔ¼                     An alternate explanation:  :þÑìÔêþÖëÖc
               It is for this reason that these officers merited  ó−ÌþЬBL óÖ³Bê e×ÖïCÖ×−ÌõÐñ                Because I will be with you.  CÈnÄòäÆéÀäÆà-éÞÄk
                   to become [members of] the Sanhedrin  ,ö−ÌþÐðÓíÐòÔ½ ³B−ÐíÌñ                And the fact that you will succeed in my mission—  ,Eгeì−ÌñÐLÌaÔì−ÌñЮÔzÓL,íÓïÐî
       and some of the holy spirit which was on Moshe was set  íÓLô ñÔ¼þÓLÎêÔìeþÖíöÌôñÔ®ÍêÓòÐî                    will be the proof— 22  .úBàÈäEÀì
                               apart and put on them.  ,óÓí−ÑñμóÔNeíÐî                                             of another promise;  ,³ÓþÓìÔêíÖìÖ¬ÐëÔíñÔ¼
                                       As it is said:  :þÔôÍêÓpÓL                                                     for I promise you  ,EÎì−̬ÐëÔô−ÌòÎêÓL
          “Gather to me seventy men of the Elders of Israel” 29  ,’BèÐîÖzмÔðÖ−þÓLÎêñÑêÖþÐNÌ−−ÑòКÌfÌôL−Ìêó−̼ÐëÌL−ÌlíÖõнÓê  that when you will bring them out of Egypt  óÌ−ÔþЮÌnÌôóÑê−Ì®BzÓLÐkÓL
                     i.e., “of those about whom you know  Ö zмÔðÖiÓLöÖ³BêÑô                             they will serve Me on this mountain  ,íÓfÔíþÖíÖíñÔ¼−̳Bê öeðÐëÔ¼Ôz
                       of the good that they did in Egypt,  ZóÌ−ÔþЮÌôÐëeNÖ¼ÓLíÖëBhÔí                        by receiving the Torah upon it.  ,î−ÖñÖ¼íÖþBzÔíeñÐaÔšÐzÓL
         for they are the elders of the people and its officers.” 30  :î−ÖþЬBLÐîóÖ¼Öí−ÑòКÌïóÑí−Ìk   This is the merit which stands by Israel.  .ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−Ðñ³ÓðÓôB¼Öí ³e×ÐfÔíê−ÌíÐî
            The officers of the B’nei Yisrael were beaten.  ìÅàÈøÀNÄééÅðÀaéÅøÀèÉ ÞLekËiÇå             We find a similar sentence structure 23 24  :eò−Ì®ÖôíÓï öBLÖñ³ÔôÐèeðÐî
         [Those officers] that Pharaoh’s taskmasters appointed  óÖ³Bê íÒ¼ÐþÔõ−ÑNÐèÒÞòeôÖN-þÓLÎê            “And this will be a sign to you—  ³BêÖíEÐñíÓïÐ î
                 to be officers over them (the B’nei Yisrael).  ,óÓíÑñμó−ÌþЬBLÐñ        that this year you will eat that which grew of itself, etc.” 25  ,’BèÐîÔì−ÌõÖ½íÖòÖMÔí ñB×Öê
                        And were told, “Why, etc.?” 31  .'åâå ÇòecÇîøÉîàÅì                        [i.e.] the fall of Sancheriv [mentioned earlier]  ë−ÌþÑìÐòÔ½³ÔñÖtÔô
                              Why were they beaten?  ?ekŠ−ÔîíÖnÖñ                                                 will serve you as a sign  ³Bê EÐñíÓ−ÐíÌz
                                                                                                      for [the fulfillment] of another promise:  ,³ÓþÓìÔêíÖìÖ¬ÐëÔíñÔ¼
                        Because they would say to them,  óÓíÖñó−ÌþÐôBê e−ÖíÓL
                         “Why have you not completed  óÓ³−ÌlÌ×êG Ô¼ecÔô                         “for [although] your land is [now] barren of fruit  ³Bþ−ÑtÌôíÖëÑþÎìóÓ×ЮÐþÔêÓL
                           neither yesterday, nor today  óBÞiÔí-óÔb ñBôÐz-óÔb                 I will abundantly bless that which grows of itself.” 26  :ó−Ìì−ÌõÐqÔíCÑþÖëÎê−ÌòÎêÔî
         the quota that has been set upon you to make bricks,  öÒaÐñÌñóÓ×−Ññμ ëe®ÖwÔíšÒì
