“When my brother, Eisov meets you −†ÌìÖêî¤ÖNѼ „EÐLÞÖbÐõÌ−−¤Ìk when they came to drink. :³B ÞzÐLÌñö'ÖêÒëÐa
and asks you saying, ‘To whom do you belong, ·íÖz¶Ôê-−ÌôÐñþ flÒôêÑñ·EÐñÞÑêÐLe 39. The sheep became heated [and mated] öê£ÒvÔíe 'ôÍìÞÓiÔî .¬ñ
Where are you going; C flÑñѳíÖò¤ÖêÐî before the rods, ³B¢ñКÔnÔí-ñÓê
and who is the owner of this that is before you?’ :E−ÞÓòÖõÐñíÓl'Ñê−£ÌôÐñe and the sheep gave birth öê flÒvÔíoÐð¤ÔñÑzÔî
19. You should [then] say, ·ÖzÐþÔôÞÖêÐî .¬− to ringed, speckled and spotted [lambs]. :ó−ÞÌêŠñЬe ó−£ÌcŠšÐòó−'ÌcŠšÎ¼
[‘They belong] to your servant, Yaakov. ë flҚμÞÔ−Ðñ ¤EÐcÐëÔ¼Ðñ 40. Yaakov separated the lambs. ›ëҚμÞÔ−ð−¤ÌþÐõÌí ‡ó−ÌëÖNÐkÔíÐî.ô
It is a present sent to my master, Eisov, î¢ÖNѼÐñ−£ÌòÒðêÞÔñí flÖìeñÐL·êîÌíí'ÖìÐòÌô He set the faces of the sheep toward the ringed ones ð§ÒšÖ¼-ñÓêöê«ÒvÔí−¶ÑòÐtö…ÑzÌiÔî…

[i.e.,] “Who has sent you?” ,EÎìÔñBL −Ìô and they did not require a male. ,þÖ×ÖïÐñ ³B×−ÌþЮe−ÖíêGÐî
[as] Onkelos translates it ÐzÔêöêÖôÐc—whose are you?. ?ÐzÔêöêÖôÐc :óebÐþÔ³Ðî That is the intent of the word íÖòÐôÔìÑiÔî, 181 etc. :’îèî íÖòÐôÔìÑiÔîeíÓïÐî
And who is the owner of this that is before you? .EéÆðÈôÀìäÆlÅàéÄîÀìe [39] Before the rods. .úBìÀ÷ÇnÇä-ìÆà [èì]
[Meaning:] and those before you, whose are they? ,óÑí−ÌôñÓLE−ÓòÖõÐlÓLíÓlÑêÐî [Meaning:] to the appearance of the sticks. 182 :³BñКÔnÔí ³BêÐþÔôñÓê
[I.e.,] to whom is this gift being sent? ?íÖìeñÐL³êÒfÔííÖìÐòÌnÔí−ÌôÐñ Ringed. .íéÄcË÷Âò
The ð"ôñ [here] is used as a prefix íÖë−ÑzÔíLêÒþÐa³ÓLÓnÔLÐôð"ÓôÖñ They were different at the place they are bound, ,óÖ³Öð−̚μ óBšÐôÌaó−ÌpeLÐô
in place of the word ñÓL—of [possessive] ,ñÓL óBšÐôÌa which is the ankles of their forelegs and hindlegs. 183 :óÓí−ÑñÐèÔþÐîóÓí−ÑðÐ−−Ñle½ÐþÔšóÑí

[40] Yaakov separated the lambs. .áÉ÷ÂòÇéãéÄøÀôÄä íéÄáÈNÀkÇäÀå [î]
meaning “is mine” êeí −ÌñÓL, ;êeí −ÌlÓL
Those that were born spotted and speckled ó−ÌcešÐòó−ÌcešÎ¼ó−ÌðÖñBpÔí
[or] “’íÔñ [God’s] is the earth and its fullness,” dÖêBñÐôe ±ÓþÖêÖí ’íÔñ
he separated and set them apart for themselves öÖôЮԼÐñL−ÌþÐõÌíÐîñ−ÌcÐëÌí
[’íñ being the same as] ’í ñÓL [God’s]. :’í ñÓL
and made them into separate flocks. ,BcÔëÐñþÓðѼþÓðѼöÖ³Bê íÖNÖ¼Ðî
[19] You should [then] say, È zÀøÇîÈàÀå [èé] He then passed the spotted flock ðešÖ¼ÓíþÓðѼÖí B³Bê C−ÌñBíÐî
[they belong] to your servant, Yaakov. .áÉ÷ÂòÇéÀìEÀãÀáÇòÀì in front of the sheep ,öêÒvÔí−ÑòÐõÌñ
[Answer] his first [question] first öBLêÌþ öBLêÌþñÔ¼ whereby the face of the sheep that followed behind them óÓí−ÑþÎìÔê ³B×ÐñBíÔíöêÒvÔí−ÑòÐõe
and his last [question] last. ;öBþÎìÔê öBþÎìÔêñÔ¼Ðî would be looking at them. .óÓí−ÑñÎê ³BõB®
That which you asked, “To whom do you belong?” ?íÖzÔê−ÌôÐñ:ÖzÐñÔêÖMÓL This is meant by what is said: :þÔôÖêÓLeíÓïÐî
[respond,] “I belong to your servant, Yaakov.” −ÌòÖêëҚμÔ−ÐñEÐcÐëÔ¼Ðñ “He set the faces of the sheep toward the ringed ones,” ,ðÒšÖ¼ñÓêöêÒvÔí−ÑòÐtöÑzÌiÔî
As Onkelos translates it— BôebÐþÔ³Ðî so that the sheep faced the spotted ,ó−ÌcešÎ¼ÖíñÓêöêÒvÔí−ÑòÐte−ÖíÓL
belonging to your servant, Yaakov. ëҚμÔ−ÐðCÖcÐëÔ¼Ðc and towards all the brown ones óeì ñÖkñÓêÐî

[Referring to] Yaakov. :ëҚμÔ− 181 Gur Aryeh explains that the form of íÖòÐôÔìÑiÔî is a combination of male eôÎìÑ− and female íÖòÐôÔìÑz, thereby alluding to this
