           54. The seven years of famine started to come, êB flëÖñ·ëÖ¼ÖþÞÖí−¥ÑòÐL¼Ôë¤ÓLíÖò−‚ÓlÌìÐzÔî .ðò  8. He refused and said to his master’s wife, î−flÖòÒðÎê³ÓL¤Ñê-ñÓê·þÓôê¶ÒiÔî|öfiÑêÖôÐ−Ôî.ì
                              just as Yoseif had said. ¹¢Ñ½B− þ¤ÔôÖêþ£ÓLÎêÞÔk                         “Behold, my master knows nothing ¼'ÔðÖ−-ê ÞG−flÌòÒðÎêö¤Ñí
                     There was famine in all the lands, ³B fl®ÖþÎê¤Öí-ñÖ×Ða·ëÖ¼Öþ−¥ÌíÐ−Ôî              about what I am doing in the house, ³Ì−¢ÖaÔa-íÔô−£ÌzÌê
             but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. :óÓìÞÖñíÖ−'ÖíóÌ−£ÔþЮÌô±Óþ'Óê-ñÖ×Ðëe                 and all that he possess, B£ñ-LÓ−-þÓLÎêñ'Ò×Ðî
            55. When all the land of Egypt was famished, óÌ− flÔþЮÌô±Óþ¤Óê-ñÖk·ëÔ¼ÐþÌzÔî .íò                 he has placed in my hands. :−ÞÌðÖ−Ðaö'Ô³Öò
              the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread. óÓì¢ÖlÔñí£Ò¼ÐþÔt-ñÓêó§Ö¼Öíš'ԼЮÌiÔî    9. No one in this house is greater than me. ›−Ìp›ÓnÌô ‡íÓfÔí³Ì−¤ÔaÔañB‚ðÖèep¶Óò−Ñê.¬
                         Pharaoh said to all of Egypt, ·óÌ−¶ÔþЮÌô-ñÖ×Ðñí¥Ò¼ÐþÔtþÓôê¶ÒiÔî           He has not withheld anything from me íÖôe flêÐô·−Ìp ¶Ó nÌôC¥ÔNÖì-ê ÞGÐî
             “Go to Yoseif. Whatever he says to you, do.” :e ÞNμÞÔzó£Ó×Öñþ'ÔôêÒ−-þÓLÎê¹ flѽB−-ñÓêe¤×Ðñ  other than you, for you are his wife. B¢zÐLÌê-ÐzÔêþ¤ÓLÎêÞÔaC£Ö³Bê-óÌê−'Ìk
        56. The famine spread over the entire face of the land. ±Óþ¢ÖêÖí−¤ÑòÐt-ñÖkñ£Ô¼íflÖ−Öíë¤Ö¼ÖþÞÖíÐî .îò  How can I do such a great evil, ³êflÒfÔí·íÖñÒðÐbÔíí¥Ö¼ÖþÞÖíí ‚ÓNͼÞÓêC−¶ÑêÐî
               Yoseif opened everything that held grain, ·óÓíÖaþ¥ÓLÎê-ñÖk-³Ó깂ѽB− ì¶Ô zÐõÌiÔî                  and sin against God.” :ó−ÞÌíGêÞÑñ−̳ê£Ö¬ÖìÐî
                                                                                              10. Even though she spoke to Yoseif every day, óB¢−|óB¤−¹£Ñ½B−-ñÓêd'ÖþÐaÔðÐk−–ÌíÐ−Ôî.−

                   For, all the grain that they stored rotted  eþЮÖêÓLóÖ³ÖêeëгíÖë−ÌšÐþÌíÓL                   11. It was on such a day, íflÓfÔíóB¤iÔíÐk·−ÌíÐ−ÞÔî .ê−
                              except for that of Yoseif.  :¹Ñ½B− ñÓMÌô ±eì                        that he came to the house to do his work. B¢zÐ×êÔñÐô³B ¤NμÞÔñíÖ³Ð−£ÔaÔíê'ÒëÖiÔî

                     “This is what he is telling us [to do],”  ,eòÖñþÑôBê êeí CÔk                 The descendants of Noach were commanded  eeԬЮÌòÔìÒò−ÑòÐa
                                   he said to them,  :óÓíÖñþÔôÖê                                           [to observe] the laws of chastity.  :³B−ÖþμÖíñÔ¼
                       “Why did you not store up grain?  ,þÖaóÓzÐþÔëЮêGíÖnÖñÐî
                                                                                                              [10] To lie next to her. 117  .dÈìÀöÆàáÇkÀLÄì [é]
                           Did he not announce to you  ,óÓ×Öñï−ÌþÐ×ÌíêGÎíÔî
                                                                                                                 Even without intimacy.  :L−ÌôÐLÔ³êGÐa el−ÌõÎê
                     that the famine years were coming?”  ?ó−ÌêÖaëÖ¼ÖþÖí−ÑòÐMÓL                                                     .dÈnÄò úBéÀäÄì
             They replied, “We gathered much but, it rotted.”  .íÖë−ÌšÐþÌíÐîíÑaÐþÔí eòÐõÔ½Öê :Bñ eþÐôÖê               To be with her.

                          He said to them, “In that case,  ,öÑkóÌê:óÓ íÖñþÔôÖê
                          whatever he says to you, do!  ,eNμÔzóÓ×ÖñþÔôêÒ−þÓLÎêñÖk                           [11] It was on such a day.  .äÆfÇä íBiÇäÀkéÄäÀéÇå [àé]
                         for he put a decree on the grain  íÖêeëÐzÔíñÔ¼þÔïÖè−ÑþÎí                 Meaning: it was when a special day arrived—  ,ðÖìe−Ðô óB− Ô¼−ÌbÌíþÓLÎêÔk−ÌíÐ−Ôî,þÔôBñÐk
                                     and it rotted,  ,íÖë−ÌšÐþÌíÐî                            a day of merriment, a day of their idolatrous feasts,  ,óÓíÖlÓLð−Ñê óB− ,šBìЮ óB−
                what if he puts a decree on us and we die?”  !³eôÖòÐî eò−ÑñÖ¼ þBïÐèÌ−óÌêíÖô            when they all went to their temples—  ,íÖþÖïíÖðBëμ³−ÑëÐñóÖlek e×ÐñÖíÓL
                                                                                                      that she said, “I have no day as suitable  öeèÖí óB− −Ìñö−Ñê:íÖþÐôÖê
                 [56] Over the entire face of the land.  .õÆøÈàÈäéÅðÀtìÈkìÇò [åð]
                                                                                                              to seduce Yoseif, as this day.”  .íÓfÔí óBiÔíÐk¹Ñ½B−ÐñšÑšÖfÌíÐñ
                         Who are referred to as ±ÓþÖêÖí−ÑòÐt?  ?±ÓþÖêÖí−ÑòÐtóÑí−Ìô
                                                                                                         She [therefore] told them, “I am ill  −ÌòÎêíÖñBì :óÓíÖñíÖþÐôÖê

                                                                                                   Rav and Shmuel [dispute what this means]:  :ñÑêeôÐLe ëÔþ
                           in which there was grain. 52  :êÖþeë−̼ öBíÐë−Ìc
                                                                                                       One says, [it means] literally, his work,  ,LÖnÔôBzÐ×êÔñÐô:þÔôÖêðÔì
