             in the presence of all who stood before him, î− flÖñÖ¼·ó−ÌëÖvÌpÔíñ¥Ò×Ðñ              He [Yaakov] said, “Please take them to me, −£ÔñÑêê'Öò-óÓì ÞÖšþÔ–ôêÒiÔî
       and he cried out “Let everyone leave my presence.” −¢ÖñÖ¼ÞÑôL−£Ìê-ñÖ× eê−'Ì®Bí ê–ÖþКÌiÔî                 and I will bless them.” :óÞÑ×ÎþÞÖëÎêÞÔî
                        No man remained with him, B flzÌê·L−ÌêðÔô¥Ö¼-êGÐî                                    Sheini (Second Aliyah)    éðù
        when Yoseif made himself known to his brothers. :î−ÞÖìÓê-ñÓ깣ѽB− ¼'ÔcÔîгÌíÐa             10. Yisrael’s eyes were heavy with age, öÓšflÒfÌôe¤ðÐëÞÖk·ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−−¥Ñò−ѼÐî.−
                                 2. He wept aloud, −¢Ì×ÐëÌaB£ñÒš-³Óêö'ÑzÌiÔî.ë                                   and he could not see. ³B¢êÐþÌññ£Ô×e− ê'G
                     and the Egyptians heard about it, óÌ− flÔþЮÌôe¤¼ÐôÐLÌiÔî                       He [Yoseif] brought them near to him, î− flÖñÑê·óÖ³ÒêL¥ÑbÔiÔî
                and the house of Pharaoh [also] heard. :í ÞÒ¼ÐþÔt³−'Ña¼£ÔôÐLÌ iÔî    BERESHIT       and he kissed them and hugged them. :óÞÓíÖñš'ÑaÔìÐ−Ôîó£ÓíÖñš'ÔMÌiÔî
                         3. Yoseif said to his brothers, ·î−ÖìÓê-ñÓ깥ѽB− þÓôê¶ÒiÔî.è                         11. Yisrael said to Yoseif, ¹ flѽB−-ñÓê·ñÑêÖ þÐNÌ−þÓôê¥ÒiÔî .ê−
                  “I am Yoseif, is my father still alive?” −¢Öì−£ÌëÖêðB'¼Ôí¹ flѽB− −¤ÌòÎê           “I have never thought to see your face, −ÌzÐñ¢ÖlÌõê¤GE−£ÓòÖõí'ÒêÐþ
                    His brothers could not answer him B fl³Òê³B¤òμÞÔñ·î−ÖìÓêe¥ñÐ×ÞÖ−-êGÐî                                and behold í¶ÑpÌíÐî
                 for they were shocked at his presence. :î−ÞÖòÖtÌôe£ñÎíÐëÌò−'Ìk           Elohim has even allowed me to see your offspring.” :EÞÓ¼ÐþÔï-³Óêó'Ôbó−£ÌíGÍê−§Ì³Òêí'ÖêÐþÓí
                   4. [Then] Yoseif said to his brothers, î−§ÖìÓê-ñÓ깫ѽB− þÓôê¶ÒiÔî.ð  12. Yoseif brought them out from between his knees, î−¢ÖkÐþÌaó¤Ì¼Ñôó£Ö³Ò깧ѽB− ê'Ñ®BiÔî .ë−
                          “Please come close to me.” −£ÔñÑêê'Öò-eLÐb
                 They came close [to him] and he said, þÓôê†ÕiÔîeL¢ÖbÌiÔî                             AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RASHI  é"ùøAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

                  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RASHI  é"ùøAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  and the Divine Spirit returned to him [Yaakov].  :LÓðÒwÔíÔìeþ î−ÖñÖ¼íÖìÖòÐî
                                                                                                        He said, “Please take them to me  éÇìÅààÈðíÆçÈ÷øÆîàÉiÇå
             [1] Yoseif could not contain his emotions  ÷ÅtÇàÀúÄäÀìóÅñBé ìÉëÈéàGÀå [à]
                                                                                                                 and I will bless them.  .íÅëÀøÈáÂàÇå
                     in the presence of all who stood.  .íéÄáÈvÄpÇäìÉëÀì
                                                                                                  This is to what Scripture refers when it states:  :ëe³ÖkÔíþÔôÖêÓLeíÓï
         He could not bear that the Egyptians standing by him  î−ÖñÖ¼ó−ÌëÖvÌòó−ÌþЮÌôe−ÐíÌiÓL ñBaнÌñ ñB×Ö−íÖ−ÖíêG
                                                                                                                    “And I led Ephraim  óÌ−ÔþÐõÓêÐñ−ÌzÐñÔbÐþÌz−Ì×ÒòÖêÐî
                     would hear his brothers’ humiliation  ö−ÌLÐiÔaгÌôî−ÖìÓêÓL ,ö−̼ÐôBLÐî
                                                                                                           and took them upon his arms.” 38  ,î−Ö³B¼BþÐïñÔ¼óÖìÖš
              when he would make himself known to them.  :óÓíÖñB¼ÐðîÖeÌíÐa
                                                                                                  [Meaning:] “I led My spirit back unto Yaakov  ëҚμÔ−Ðë−Ììeþ −ÌzÐñÔbÐþÌz
                 [2] And the house of Pharaoh heard.  .äÉòÀøÇt úéÅaòÇîÀLÄiÇå [á]                                     for Ephraim’s sake  ,óÌ−ÔþÐõÓêñ−ÌëÐLÌa
                      [íÕ¼ÐþÔt³−Ña is the same as] íÕ¼ÐþÔtñÓL B³−Ña  ,íÒ¼ÐþÔtñÓL B³−Ña            until he [Yaakov] took them into his arms.” 39  :î−Ö³B¼BþÐïñÔ¼óÖìÖšÐlÓLðÔ¼
                      i.e., his servants and his household.  .B³−Ñë−ÑòÐëe î−ÖðÖëμ,þÔôBñÐk
                                                                                                            [11] I have never thought.  .éÄzÀìÈlÄôàG [àé]
                 Here, the reference is not to a literal house  ,LÖnÔô³Ì−Ôa öBLÐñíÓïö−ÑêÐî
                                                                                                   [Meaning:] I did not dare have any thought  ,íÖëÖLÎìÔô ëBLÎìÔñ−ÌaÌñ−ÌòÔêÖñÐôêG
      but, rather, is similar to ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−³−Ña—the household of Israel,  ,ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−³−Ña :BôÐkêÖlÓê
                                                                                                        that I would ever see your face again.  :ðB¼ E−ÓòÖõíÓêÐþÓêÓL
                  or íÖðeíÐ−³−Ña—the household of Yehudah,  ,íÖðeíÐ−³−Ña
                                                                                                            The word −ÌzÐñÖlÌõ means thought  ,íÖëÖLÎìÔô öBLÐñ−ÌzÐñÖlÌt
                                    meisnede in O.F.  :ïÔ¼ÔñÐë íð"ò¾−ô
                                                                                                   as in: “Give advice, carry on the thought.” 40  :íÖñ−ÌñÐõ−ÌNμí֮Ѽ−Ìê−ÌëÖí :BôÐk
               [3] They were shocked at his presence.  .åéÈðÈtÄîeìÂäÀáÄð [â]
                                                                                                        [12] Yoseif brought them out. 41  .íÈúÉàóÅñBé àÅöBiÇå [áé]
                                     Out of shame.  :íÖLeaÔí−ÑòÐtÌô
                                                                                                         After he [Yaakov] had kissed them,  óÖšÖLÐpÓLþÔìÔêÐñ
                      [4] Please come close to me. 13  .éÇìÅààÈðeLÀb [ã]                          Yoseif took them out from between his knees  ,î−ÖkÐþÌaó̼Ñô¹Ñ½B− óÖê−Ì®Bí
                       He saw them recoiling backwards  ,þBìÖêÐñó−ÌèB½ÐòóÖ³Bê íÖêÖþ                       so as to seat them, one to the right  ö−Ìô−ÌñíÓï,óÖëÐMÔ−Ðñ−ÑðÐk
                                    so he thought:  :þÔôÖê
                                                                                    17                               and one to the left  ,ñêÒôÐNÌñíÓïÐî
                      “Now, my brothers feel ashamed,”  ,ó−ÌôÖñÐ×Ìò−ÔìÔêî−ÖLÐ×Ô¼              so that he [Yaakov] would place his hands on them  óÓí−Ññμî−ÖðÖ− CBôнÌñ
              so he called to them tenderly and pleadingly 14  ,ó−ÌòeòÎìÔ³ÐîíÖkÔþ öBLÖñÐaóÓíÖñêÖþÖš                    and bless them.  :óÑ×ÎþÖëÐñe
      13  1. Why did Yoseif not call them closer before he made himself known to them? (previous verse). 2. Why did he
      again identify himself saying ¹Ñ½B− −ÌòÎê—“I am Yoseif” as he did in the previous verse?  14  Thus, he now asks them to  38  Hoshea 11, 3.  39  To bless them.  40  Yeshayahu 16, 3.  41  Yoseif had brought his sons to Yaakov to be blessed,
      come close to him.                                                                 then why did he now move them away from Yaakov?
