Meteorology
3.11.5.7 NSW, NSC
If during the TREND period the weather phenomenon (in point 6) is expected
to cease and is not replaced by another weather phenomenon, NSW (Nil
Significant Weather) is written.
If during the TREND period there are changes to clouds in point 7, the term NSC
(Nil significant Clouds) may be used, provided that:
- there are no CBs, regardless of height
- there are no other clouds below 5000 feet or below the highest minimum
sector height, where this is greater than 5000 feet.
- the term CAVOK or SKC cannot be used.
At aerodromes with a meteorologist, a TREND is issued.
3.11.5.8 TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast)
A TAF is an airport forecast, which is issued every 3 hours at 00, 03, 06, etc.
TAF FC is usually valid for 9 hours. If it is called TAF FT, the TAF is valid for
twenty-four hours.
We can also find TAF on NorthAviMet. You can choose between a graphic
overview and text.
We can see both color and symbols for snow
showers. If we click on an airport we get the TAF
for the airport.
Here it is the TAF for EKKA on 20.11.2024 at 9 - 10.
On the bar at the bottom, we can choose a
different time period.
Here the text for EKKA is selected:
