In front of the factory first of all, the Marmara University stu-
dents Melisa and Simge played the flute and the violin. Then
Aynur Aydemir spoke on behalf of the Kazova workers: “They told
us you would not get your rights, so we started resistance by setting
up a tent in front of the victory. We pitched a tent in front of the
factory so they would not be able to remove machinery and mate-
rial from it. After that we occupied the factory. We said we would
start producing after repairing the machines, they said we would
not be able to do it. Here too we succeeded. And last week ma-
chines were sequestered and we moved into our new place.
“Last month we held a fashion show. Now as the culture and
art committee we have organised a film festival. Today we have
gathered here for it. Welcome to all of you,” she said.
Then Munevver Asci spoke on behalf of the DIH, saying this
resistance had an important place in the history of the working
class struggle, and a number of firsts had arisen from it. From the
most important aspects of it, one was that the uprising starting in
the month of June united the sensitivity of the people with the re-
sistance and this reached the highest level, she said.
Meral Yildirim Gokoglu spoke on behalf of the Kazova cul-
ture and art committee, saying this committee was formed from
the Kazova workers, the DIH, Otekiler Culture and Art Centre
and the Idil Culture Centre FOSEM (Photograph and Cinema
Workers): “We are here because here history is being written. Al-
though there are number of examples in the world, this resistance
in our country is a first and has an honourable place in the strug-
