The second day of the festival started at 3 pm on 2 November
with a documentary film entitled “Salt, Water, Flour”.
This is a documentary prepared by Ozlem Sariyildiz which
described the popular movements which rose up in Argentina fol-
lowing the 2001 economic crisis and told of the local forms of or-
ganisation and joint kitchens which arose to confront the poverty
and hunger of the people. There was a short chat with Sariyildiz
about the film afterwards. Sariyildiz shared her impressions of Ar-
gentina with the spectators.
Afterward there was a break for tea and conversation.
At 6 pm there was a showing of the film “THOSE WHO
AWAKE IN THE DARK” directed by Lutfi Akad, with the script
by Vedat Turkali and produced by Ertem Gorenc. The film was
made in 1974 and was also the first film made in Turkey by work-
ers.
The film looked at the class struggle in the unions and the
class contradictions between bosses and workers.
After this the film “THE WORKING CLASS GOES TO
HEAVEN” by Elio Petri was shown.
About 200 people attended the second day of the film festival
which ended at 11:30 at night.

Events on Day 3
The film festival’s third day started at 3 pm with a short film
about the Gezi resistance.
