said.

Following these speeches Ozlem Sariyildiz, Fatih Aydin and

FOSEM separately described the Kazova resistance and showed
the work for a documentary still under construction on a giant
screen made into a collage.

At half past eight in the evening there was a short pause. Dur-
ing this there were announcements that tomorrow at three there
would be an action of the BELTAS workers in front of Besiktas
CHP district building,

- The Kazova workers would be at Caglayan palace of justice

on 12 November for a hearing resulting from charges they had
pressed about the machines being removed,

- On 9 November there would be a chain action for Berkin
Elvan in front of Caglayan palace of justice.

Meanwhile Grup Yorum played songs and people danced
around a fire that had been lit.

After the pause they watched a film called “Bread and Roses”
about the struggle in the USA to unionise immigrant cleaning
workers. 150 people took part in the first day’s programme, which
ended at 11 pm.
