After that there was a documentary directed by Hulya Ozturk
entitled “TANGO FROM TOP TO BOTTOM”.
The documentary told of the 2001 economic crisis in Ar-
gentina and the popular movements and local organisation that
developed. The documentary also drew attention to the culture
of the people, as well as struggle and organisation.
Later there was a conversation with the director of the film,
Hulya Ozturk. After the conversation there was a showing of a
tango, based on the film “TANGO FROM TOP TO BOTTOM”.
Immediately after there was a showing of “BRUKMANLI
KADINLAR” (“BRUKMAN WOMEN”). The director of the film,
Ishak Isiltan, phoned from Canada while the film was being
watched and saluted the Kazova resistance.
This film dealt with workers in the Brukman factory in Ar-
gentina who engaged in workers’ resistance after being thrown out
of work, and they occupied it, resumed production and nation-
alised the factory.
The last film of the festival was about the working class of our
country, the Kazova workers.
A documentary film about KAZOVA WORKERS was
shown, presenting them as the first resistance in the history of the
working class in Turkey to struggle for their rights, occupy their
factory to get what they had earned by their labour, to produce
and resist. The Kazova resistance documentary was directed by
FATIH GEZER. Fatih Gezer had constantly been on hand with a
camera, recording the occupation of the Kazova factory.
