Savas Dogan from the Sisli municipality workers and Ridvan
Caliskan from the Besiktas municipality described both the yellow
trade unionism of their municipalities and their own solidarity
with the Kazova textile workers.
Following the speeches the sweaters we produced were exhib-
ited on stage by Pelin Batu, Nilufer Acikalin, Mehmet Esatoglu,
Hakan Yesilyurt, Ilkay Akkaya, Gulay, Cengiz Bozkurt, Serhat Tu-
tumluer, Selcuk Balci, Otekiler music collective,Guler Ince, Bucu
Demir, Merve Tuba Taruk and Ezgi Kaya.
Metin Yegin had put a good deal of preparation into the fash-
ion show, and said that in contrast to bourgeoisie’s fashion shows,
the workers were putting their own fashions on display, their “fash-
ions” being occupation, resistance and production.
This year the HHB (People’s Law Bureau) was holding its
third international symposium and lawyers who are in our country
for it but are from Latin America, Argentina, Chile, Germany,
Brazil, Canada, Syria, USA and Britain took part in this event as
well. They wished it success when they came onto the stage and
noted that there were a good many occupations like this in Ar-
gentina.
Then Gulay, Hakan Yesilyurt, Ilkay Akkaya and Bandista
came on stage and sang songs.
In memory of the valued artist Tuncel Kurtiz who had died
the day before, a film of him at Grup Yorum’s 25th anniversary
concert was shown in which he recited the poem Gecit Yok (“No
