P. 10
Hi, I’m Ellie but I like to be called Elle, I’m 13. Since February 2020, I have lived on Cape Barron
Island. I used to live with my Dad in Launceston. I have 5 sisters and 2 brothers on my Mum’s side,
and 2 sisters and 1 brother on my Dad’s side. I am the youngest sibling on both sides.
My Mum has one kidney and sometimes has to go to town for a couple of days. When that happens
someone who is old enough in my family has to come over to Cape Barren to look after me or I have
to go and live with my friends for a couple of days.
If we want to go anywhere out of Cape Barren Island we have to go on a plane. We have a little
community of less than 100 people. We have no KFC, MacDonald’s or Hungry Jacks, and we have
one shop that is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. I miss KFC, McDonalds and Hungry
Jacks. Our beaches and views are beautiful though.
There are only 10 students in the
primary class and 3 students in
the high school, including me.
I’m looking forward to a mainland
field tip to Canberra with my
school and Flinders Island
School.
At my place, there is a big cement tank outside my house.
I climb on the balcony and jump off to get on it, which is fun
and you get a great view. I also like going for a walk when
it’s almost dark and sometimes I see wildlife.
I have a dog, his name
is Stockman, yes I
know, a unique name
for a dog. He is three
years old but acts like
a one-month-old pup.
