NUR 551 (Assessment and intervention in Medical Surgical Nursing)
This course focuses on the assessment and intervention in medical surgical
nursing. Students perform and observe nursing skills related to conducting
assessment and providing interventions of patients with various medical and
surgical disorders. These include vital signs taking, performing physical
examinations, monitor intake and output, laboratory results and assist in
medication administration and other related nursing procedures that are appropriate
to the care and management of the patient and providing health education to patient
and the family.
PSL 580 (Human Physiology)
The focus of this course is directed toward the study of selected areas of normal
human physiology. The anatomical and physiological function of the major
systems are emphasized. Emphasis is given to analyze the normal functions at the
cellular and organ levels. Major regulatory and integrative mechanisms of the body
are elaborated to elucidate body function.
NUR 552 (Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing)
Students in this course will be prepared to manage and focuses on the health care
management of individuals with acute and chronic health care problems. It
emphasizes the clinical issues in terms of alteration in physiological and behavioral
mechanisms emphasized. It also explores the use of different nursing concepts and
paradigms for the synthesis of theories for clinical practice
PSL 581 (Applied Physiology)
Provide students with a deeper base of scientific knowledge that correlates
physiology and corresponding alterations to the process of clinical diagnosis and
management. The course elaborates upon specific pathophysiologic principles and
the study of diseases. It also provides an exercise in applying epidemiological
knowledge in clinical practice settings.
NUR 553 (Advanced Clinical in Surgical Nursing)
Emphasis is on the use of selected concepts and paradigms of nursing for planning,
implementation, and evaluating the nursing care provided for selected patients. The
focus is placed on the selection, utilization, and evaluation of an intervention for
nursing problems of adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses. Individualized
clinical experiences in the acute or long-term setting are based on the student's
interest and expertise. Each student is responsible for providing nursing care for a
group of patients during the clinical experience.
