GENERAL ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION

In the event of the Electrical Contractor nominating an alternative manufacturer for
specified equipment, he is to be responsible for ensuring that it is equal or better in
performance to the original, and that it is dimensionally suitable for the installation. Any
additional costs arising out of the necessity of re-planning, relocating or refitting
equipment due to the use of such alternative equipment is to be borne by the Electrical
Contractor.
1.2.24 Defects
Prior to Practical Completion and when the Electrical Contractor has satisfied himself that
all work is complete and defect free in accordance with the Employers requirements, the
Electrical Contractor is to offer the works to the Project Manager for inspection. The
Project Manager shall prepare a Schedule of Defects and formally issue them through the
Electrical Contractor for action by the Electrical Contractor. The Electrical Contractor is to
inform all parties when he considers all remedial works have been complete.
Concealed or buried work is to be inspected and tested in the presence of the Project
Manager before any permanent covering is applied. The Electrical Contractor is to give
due notice, , to the Project Manager when the work is ready for inspection and the
Project Manager shall, without reasonable delay, carry out his inspection and/or witness
the tests unless he informs the Electrical Contractor in writing that he considers the tests
unnecessary.
In no instance is concealed or buried work to be covered without being fully tested and
documented by the Electrical Contractor.
In the event of the Electrical Contractor failing to complete all defect works to any area
within the desired period to the satisfaction of the Project Manager, the Client may
instruct the Project Manager to achieve the desired completion(s) with whatever
assistance is deemed necessary.
The cost of such assistance inclusive of the Project Manager's costs for each and every
occasion shall be deducted from the Electrical Contractor's payments.
1.2.25 Schedule of Rates
The Contractor is to, as set out in the main contract documents, submit a fully detailed
Schedule of Rates inclusive of all material and labour rates and indicating all associated
overheads and profits.
The Schedule of Rates are to show in detail the quantities, process and extensions used in
the calculation of the Tender Prices and the Electrical Contractor is to accept
responsibility for the accuracy of any quantities and extensions contained therein and the
Schedule are to balance with each priced item of the Electrical Contractors Tender
summary.
