The amount of orthopaedlo surgery Is increasing rapidly with
Industrialization and motor traffic, oo It io considered that on
orthopaodio surgeon Is required with the usual occupational therapy.
It villi bo noted that an lnorouse In the numbers of specialists Is
rcoommended. Modern medicine has beooine so highly specialized that

more specialist treatment is necessary to give the Public the high
standard of modern treatment now available. An Increase of about 50^
In the establishment of Junior hospital doctors Is also recommended.
It la notod with satisfaction that a dietician Is being appoint
ed as diet Is most Important In medical treatment.

We note that although there are books scattered around the
hospital In various offices, there Is no central medical library. We
strongly recommend that suoh a library bo established for tho use of
          nil staff concornod.

Tho Mon's Hospital Is old and Inconvenient and we recommend that
it should be replaood by hospital accommodation adjacent to the New
Hospital for Woman. At present there are 107 general hospLtol bods

available for men and 150 for women. The number of beds for men In
tho now accommodation should be Increased to 150 also. This addition
al accommodation for men will raise the percentage of general beds
to population to over 2 $00 which can bo considered as a satisfactory

          proportion.
The Now Men's section should be planned by a hospital
architect with experience In building hospitals In tho tropics,
advised by an experienced hospital matron. It should be a compact
multistorled, air conditioned unit, designed with special regard* to
