Documentary on Singapore’s Public Housing
Mr Darren Soh, NYAA Gold Award holder, 1998 cohort
and founding member of NYAA YPN, was featured in
a documentary on Singapore’s public housing. He
is renowned as an architectural photographer. The
documentary’s host was Ms Eunice Olsen, former
Nominated Member of Parliament. The documentary
was on Public Housing to commemorate HDB’s 60th
Anniversary.
Iconic Public Housing
The day after the equinox, Mr Darren Soh visited
Tampines, and while it was still sunny with clear skies,
he shot the symmetrical spot at Tampines Street 45.
During the interview, he mentioned that beauty is
around us if we look and appreciate the moment
instead of constantly being in a hurry. His shot of the
HDB block at Tampines Street 45 won many praises Mr Darren Soh featured in the documentary on Singapore’s

HDB at MacPherson Estate
Ms Tin Pei Ling, Member of Parliament for
MacPherson SMC and Chairman, Government
Parliamentary Committee for Communications and
Information, invited Mr Darren Soh for tea to explore
the possibility of collaborating with the NYAA YPN to
capture and enhance the vibrancy and colour of the
estate.
A series of meetings will be organised with the
MacPherson SMC Grassroots organisations when the
pandemic eases.

Singapore General Election 2020
During the Singapore 2020 General Election’s
campaigning, Mr Darren Soh captured two images
of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance,
Mr Heng Swee Keat and Minister for Education, Mr
Ong Ye Kung, on the TV Rally Speech with an HDB
background. The two images were well received. The
Business Times featured DPM Heng’s picture. Both
DPM Heng and Minister Ong thanked Darren for the
pictures. Mr Darren Soh captured the vibrancy and colour of the HDB
housing estate at MacPherson Estate.
