hosted at Masjid Al Burhani, a historic landmark
built in 1895 by the Dawoodi Bohras Community

recognised as one of Singapore’s oldest communities
alongside the Armenians, Arabs, Parsis, and Jews,
the event celebrated their significant contributions
to Singapore’s nation-building efforts. Mr Lawrence
Wong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for
Finance was the guest of honour for the luncheon.
• Appreciation and Thank You Luncheon
for the 8th President of the Republic of
Singapore
The 8th President of the Republic of Singapore,
Mdm Halimah Yacob, supported the National Youth
Achievement Award (NYAA) youth development
programme from 2017 to 2023. In recognition of
her unwavering support, the NYAA organized an
appreciation and thank you luncheon in October
2023, hosted by Mr Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime
Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic
Policies.
The luncheon was graced by Ambassadors, heads of
educational institutions, NYAA Advisory Board and
Council members, and NYAA Gold Award Holders’
Alumni. DPM Heng delivered a heartfelt address
during the event, expressing gratitude to Mdm
Halimah for her significant contributions. As a token
of appreciation, she was presented with a specially
commissioned caricature depicting her involvement
in various NYAA projects and events throughout her
presidency.
It was a memorable occasion, and the tribute visibly
moved Mdm Halimah.
