3. How significant is marketing in your business?

Sample answer:
It means a lot. We need a creative and ambitious marketing team to launch our new products
and sustain the good exposure of our existing products. Every new feature of our products is
disseminated to the public through our marketing staff. Anything new about us should be re-
layed by the marketing team to the public. Hence, their efficiency spells success for us.

1. You are addressing the marketing staff of your company. You are not so hap-
py about the attention that your new item is getting in the market. Present
the following demands to the team.

a. a more aggressive marketing strategy
b. high visibility of the product

Sample answer:
We are meeting today to do something about the less than expected reception that our new
product is currently getting at the market. Two months ago, we launched the Maxima Note-
book, and after initial survey, we found out that the members of our target market are still
unaware of its existence. How can this happen? Definitely, we need to review our marketing
strategy. We need to be more aggressive in our steps. First of all, we should have high product
visibility through different mass media. I hope that this will be your priority in the next weeks.
We’ll have another survey in two week’s time and hopefully your efforts will have created a
positive change in our sales. Thanks for your time.

2. You are giving an introduction on the training that your marketing staff will
have. Emphasize the importance of having a strong marketing team in a
company. Discuss the following points. You may add more.

a. Marketing introduces a product and makes it known to the public
b. Marketing can sustain the interest of the public in a product

Sample answer:
We are happy about the composition of this semester’s marketing team. You are all very cre-
ative and experienced and we have high hopes about what you can do for our latest product.
As you well know, your job is very important in this business. Your work influences the future
success of our projects. Marketing makes sure that our products are introduced to the public.
Once our products are known, people will consider buying our items. Of course, they will not
go wrong with this decision because our products are known for their efficiency and quality.
This and continuous efficient marketing will sustain the popularity of our product. You may
have a daunting task, but I’m sure that with your talents, skills, and teamwork, our goal can be
achieved.
