                on pivoting.) Practice pivoting with a counter.


































                1. Starting in your neutral stance, step with your lead foot
                and then rotate on the ball of your lead foot as you
                simultaneously throw a hook with your lead hand. This
                technique is called a “check hook.”


                2. You can double up on the check hook as you pivot by
                throwing one hook to the lateral side of the target’s head
                and then following up with a second hook to the lateral side
                of the target’s body.



                Defensive Exercises


                The following exercises will help you apply the defensive
                techniques covered in this chapter. Practice a defense drill

                by combining the following techniques: Slip Side to Side,
                Dip, Pull Back, Pivot 180 Degrees, and Weave Side to Side.
