Type O is believed to be the ancestral blood group (this is why this blood type
can be given to anyone), with the diet therefore being typical of the hunter-
gatherer era: high in animal protein. This means lean meat, chicken, and fish,
and less on focus grains, beans and dairy. This type tends to have trouble
        with their stomach.

Type A evolved when humans started practicing farming, so they should eat
more vegetarian. This means fruit and vegetables, beans and legumes, and
whole grains, preferably all organic and fresh. This type tends to have a
        sensitive immune system.

Type B originated in nomadic tribes, so they should consume more products
made with dairy. This includes low-fat dairy products, eggs, certain lean
meats, and some veggies. However, Bs should avoid chicken, mealies, wheat,
lentils, tomatoes, peanuts, sesame seeds and buckwheat.

Type AB is an in-between group for both A and B, so the diet needs to be
somewhere in the middle. As such, this includes tofu, seafood, dairy and
green vegetables. Since ABs have low stomach acid, they should avoid
coffee, alcohol and smoked or cured meats.

        The pros

This is almost a throw-back diet that is the antithesis of Atkins and South
Beach. All the suggested courses of action – even for dairy eaters – steer
away from high fat. Do you see how confusing the diets can be? They almost
seem to preach the polar opposites!

Even so, the notion of moderation here (at least as far as fats go) is cause for
celebration – your doctor won’t be rapping you over the knuckles for
labouring your heart under a mountain of fat.
