It’s been 41 years since Fred and Flo MacLean started the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in Bridgewater, never realizing at the time that the fun promotional venture for their store would soon become a tradition in sup- port of local residents struggling to make ends meet.
Today it’s Holly Kerouac and her husband, Craig Hall, who own Newfound Country Store, and for more than a decade, they have continued to welcome peo- ple on Thanksgiving morning to run or walk a loop from their business to Whittemore Point Road North, then out along the

Heidi Milbrand of Travel- er’s Rest and her black lab re- triever, Cascade, certainly have been busy competing! A few weeks ago, Cascade and Heidi competed in their second Dock Dogs World Champion com- petition, with Cascade herself participating in the Big Air dis- cipline. Unfortunately, Cascade didn’t make it in her division, but Milbrand said it was an honor to be invited to Worlds. Cascade is undoubtedly stirring up some love in the community as we all root her on in her jumping endeavors!
Cascade and Heidi are no strangers to Dock Dogs. Dock Dogs is a nationwide and inter- national program where dogs compete in different competi- tions to show off their jumping skills. The matches seem to be the perfect fit for the cutie we know as Cascade because she is definitely made for jump-

ing! Heidi got Cascade when she was about eight weeks old, making the lovable pup seven. Milbrand tells me that when Cascade was about six months old, she was always trying to
jump into their above-ground pool, when one day, Heidi just told her to jump, and the rest was history. Not long after that first jump, Cascade was sailing off the docks and having the
time of her life.
About six months later,
the black lab retriever partici- pated in her first competition!
