With the resent snow, it's tough to think Spring thoughts, but the Newfound community is abuzz with the arrival of spring, a season that brings joy and re- juvenation. ety this summer, which is located
in a historic venue of its own.
Driving along South Main
Street in Bristol, people will see
the old Bristol Fire Station with
a lofty bell tower and equipment
garage underneath. It’s there
that a wealth of information on
the town can be discovered.

Information documented in news articles from the late 1890s shows that Dodge-Davis Manufac- turing Company on Lake Street in Bristol was a woolen factory that provided the cloth from which the uniforms of the Yankees (along with a few other teams) were made. “Four generations in all saw to it that the best cloth money could buy came out of its shipping rooms, and that included, of course, major league material, for major league teams, as all fans know, always have the best, never the second best,” the archived article by Bob Hilliard of the Sunday News read.
As an added note, the cloth from Dodge-Davis was then sent to a number of other companies, where it was made into the ac- tual uniforms. Among those was the Draper and Maynard firm in Plymouth, where the “Lucky Dog” baseball gloves were made. Women in the Plymouth area were also re-
