two from the top to the bottom; the earth shook and the rocks split. The graves of
Jerusalem opened. The dead in the Word of God rose up and went out from the
city of Jerusalem with many of his supporters. When the centurion and those who
were with him saw that he cried out in this manner and said truly this was a
righteous man the son of God.
The whole council of the High Priest, Elders of the Jews and scribe saw what
was happening returned to Pilot beating their breasts. Now because it was Friday
the whole council said to Pilot let not these bodies remain on the crosses
because the Sabbath is dawning. That Sabbath was a great day. They asked
Pilot to have the legs of those who were crucified to be broken. The soldiers were
order to break the legs of those crucified. They came and broke the legs of the
first malefactor and then of the other malefactor. When they came to Jesus they
saw that he was dead already. So they did not break his legs but one of the
soldiers pierced his side with a spear and immediately blood and water came out.
He who bears witness and his witness is true. That you also may believe those
issues happened. That scripture might be fulfilled which said not even a bone
shall be broken in him. Another scripture which said they shall look upon him
who they pierce. All acquaintances of Jesus stood by. Many women who
followed and ministered to him from Galilee stood afar off. They all had been
observing these issues that occurred.
Centurion, Joseph, Nicodemus,
It was Friday evening which was before the Sabbath there came Joseph from
Arimathea.
He was a righteous man and supporter of Jesus. He did not support the High
priest or Elders of Jews or their illegal actions against Jesus. He waited patiently
for the kingdom of God. He went to Pilot and asked Pilot that he might take away
the body of Jesus. Pilot marveled that Jesus was already dead. So he called the
Centurion and asked him if he had died before the time. When Pilot heard from
the Centurion that Jesus was dead granted him permission to take the body of
Jesus. He commanded the Centurion that the body should be given to Joseph.
Now this Centurion was the same Centurion from Capernaum whose servant
was sick and healed just by the Word. The Centurion, Joseph and Nicodemus
who were also supporters of Jesus went to the place of the Skull. Nicodemus
brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes about a hundred pints and a
shroud of fine linen cloths with spices. They took down the body of Jesus from
the cross. Now there was a garden and in the garden a new grave hand hewn
down ward into the rock. No one was ever laid in this grave. They carried the
body down into the grave and there they laid the body of Jesus. They clothed the
body with linen cloths and used the spices according to the custom of the Jews in
burial. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee observed all issues.
