They were near sitting opposite the grave and they came near looked in and saw
how they laid his body. They then went up and out of the tomb and rolled a large
stone against the opening and all of them went away. The Sabbath was
approaching and on the Sabbath they rested.
The First Day of the Week
On the first day of the week while it was still dark a great earthquake took place
for the angel of the Lord came down from heaven and went up from within the
grave and rolled away the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning
and his garments white as snow. When the guards saw the stone move and
then the appearance of a young man come out and then sit on the stone. Fear
took hold of the guards who were appointed to watch the grave they trembled
and became as if they were dead. Because of what they saw they fled to the city
and to the High Priests
Mary of Magdala, Joanna and Mary the mother of James and John were on their
way to the grave with spices which they had prepared to anoint the body of
Jesus. As they were going the guards passed them quickly who had been
watching the grave entered into the city and came to the High Priest Caiaphas.
Then they told him everything that had happened. He told them to say nothing to
no one until after the whole council and Elders has met and discussed this issue.

away the stone from the door of the grave for us? They looked and saw that the

enter into the grave but did not see the body of Jesus. They reasoned among
themselves that someone had taken his body and they left straightway. Mary of
Magdala ran and came to dwelling place where the apostle stayed during the
Passover. She entered in and Peter and the other apostle whom Jesus loved
were setting at the table. She said to them they have taken our Lord out of the
grave. I do not know where they have laid him.
Peter and John went out and ran together to the grave. John out ran Peter and
came to the grave and looked in and saw the linen cloths lying. He did not enter
in. Then Peter came after him and they stood at the entrance of the grave. Peter
enters into the grave and saw a young man sitting in white garments. John
followed Peter they saw the linen cloths laying on the ground the burial napkins
which was bound around his head was not with the linen cloths but wrapped up
and put in a place by itself. They marveled. Jesus stood up and said remember
what I said to you while I was in Galilee saying that the Son of man had to be
delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and rise on the third day.
They remember his words and believed them and they were astonished. When
your brethren have gathered hear tell them what you have seen and heard and
that I will be in Galilee before you. I will leave now but you must wait hear than
