CATEGORY: COACH OF THE YEAR
NOMINEE NOMINATOR DEPARTMENT
Brian Maley Kenneth Carl Value Chain Improvement 402100
Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.
Brian is a great coach because of his excellent technical knowledge, his leadership skills, and his extensive
knowledge GOJO's business processes. He is also a subject matter expert on the FTO1 line in Wooster.
Brian can see the big picture when it comes to MES systems, specifically the FTO1 line. Brian should be
coach of the year because he led me through the daunting task of learning the MES system with competency
and patience.
Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
Brian took ownership of the MES system in Wooster and his natural leadership was obvious. He was able to
show me how the MES system interacts with many different departments and people. In other words the MES
is not simply a piece of software but it is also system that impacts many people throughout the a company that
have to work together for the system to be successful.
What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
Brian taught me the administration of the Wooster PAS-X system. This is a very complex computer system
with many types of electronic communication occurring simultaneously. I knew nothing about it when I was
hired and Brian willingly took on the difficult task of teaching me this system. His teaching skills, patience and
extreme effort allowed me to get up to speed as quickly as possible.
