                               At Barbur two houses were raided by a

                           large band of armed men in the middle of the
                           night,    The goods which were stolen were of
                            small value.   The occupants of the firs.i house

                           were not molested but the owner of the second
                            house refused to open the door when ordered
                            to do so, at which the attackers fired several
                            shots through the door and then smashed it in.
                            There was a fight between the villagers and

                            the raiders, the villagers were badly beaten
                            v/ith butts of rifles but one of the raiders
                            was wounded in the hand with a pruning knife.

                            '.Then the matter was investigated it was found
                            that the raiders had carried a wooden chest
                            from the village to a place on the sea shore

                            half way between Barbar and I'an-imah and from
                            the blood trail which they left it was evi­

                            dent that one of the robbers was badly wounded.
                            The two cases are being investigated and a
                            number of arrests have been .made in connec­

                            tion with the Zinj attack,    xi .soaewhat simi-
                            lar case occurred at the end of the year when
                            people returning from Kanemah to *udeya in
                             the evening v/ith a donkey load of provisions
                            were held up by two armed wen, t.\e footpads

                             took to flight however on seeing oshar people
                             coaling down the road.
                                  For several years Bahrain has been free
                             from cases of this kind although eight or
