2.18 Gas or Vacuum Lost
1. A type of gas or vacuum and the word Lost displays on the Master Alarm.
Yes No
↓ → Go to “Final Actions” on page 2-7.
2. The Area Alarm, at the location showing on the Master Alarm’s display, is
powered on.
Yes No
↓ → Turn the power to the Area Alarm on (see “Area Alarm Power-
Up” on page 1-112). If this solves the problem, go to “Final
Actions” on page 2-7. Otherwise, go to step 4.

The potential for electric shock exists with electrical equipment. Use
caution when troubleshooting any electrical device.
3. Use caution while checking voltage inside the Area Alarm.
4. The voltage across the two orange lead connections on the breakout board
is approximately 20 V AC. Refer to the wiring diagram FO 3-4 at the rear
of this manual.
Yes No
↓ → Replace the transformer (refer to procedure 4.5 on page 4-16). If
this solves the problem, go to “Final Actions” on page 2-7.
Otherwise, go to step 5.
5. Check the LEDs on the Network Communications Board (see “Area Alarm
Power-Up” on page 1-112). The LEDs that indicate whether the alarm is
communicating are operating correctly.

6. The Area Alarm’s Network Communications Board is connected to its
Ethernet hub properly.
Yes No
↓ → Properly connect the Area Alarm’s Network Communications
Board to its corresponding Ethernet hub. Refer to the facility’s
wiring diagram of the Ethernet network. If this solves the
problem, go to “Final Actions” on page 2-7. Otherwise, go to
step 7.
7. Replace the Area Alarm’s Network Communications Board (refer to
procedure 4.8 on page 4-24). If this solves the problem, go to “Final
Actions” on page 2-7. Otherwise, call Hill-Rom Technical Support at
(800) 445-3720.
