- To finish post-graduate studies on a particular discipline. For those
requesting a leave for a study leading to advanced terminal degrees,
recent and consistent effort toward the attainment of the degree
should be shown;
- To conduct research. The completed research study shall be published
in reputable journals within or outside the University;
- To write/translate a book in relation to one’s field of specialization;
- To write and produce a play or engage in any artistic production;
- To undertake special projects for the interest of the University.
In case of publication of outputs of the sabbatical leave, rules and regulations
on publication as stipulated in the University Code must be observed.
Procedure:
Application for sabbatical leave should be submitted to the University
President, through channels, at least two (2) months prior to the intended
leave. Those who apply for sabbatical leave should submit an activity/project
proposal with clear objectives, and deliverables at the end of the sabbatical
leave. The Faculty and Staff Development Committee will still be the one to
evaluate the merit of the sabbatical leave application.
The committee’s recommendation shall be forwarded to the University
President for appropriate action. Unless the research to be undertaken
requires teaching, a faculty on sabbatical leave must not be engaged in
teaching at any institution.
Obligations:
At the end of the sabbatical leave and as requirement for formal return to
duty, the employee must submit a written report to the University President,
through channels. This report should detail the accomplishments of the
sabbatical leave specifically in terms of benefits accruing to the University and
the specific activities listed in the original sabbatical proposal. He/she is
required to present a report in an appropriate forum.
The employee must be able to show proof of successful attainment of his
sabbatical leave plan/objectives such as a published paper/book, etc. Failure
to achieve the set plan/objectives of the sabbatical leave will result to payback
of all monetary benefits given the employee (e.g. salaries, bonuses, etc.)
during the leave period. A grace period of 6 months may be given only upon
request to comply.
5.8. Other HRD interventions:
In addition to those already stipulated in CSC Memoranda, the University may
also do the following human resource interventions:
5.8.1. Job Rotation - is a means of assigning/reassigning second
level employees of comparable rank and of similar
functions on a rotation basis not to exceed one year to develop
and enhance the potentials of people in the organization by
