            Adam shall share with  me in  hliss or woe.              Adán compartirá  mi go/o o pena.
            So dear 1love him  that with him all deaths              Le quiero tanto que. con el.  mil  muertes

             I could endure, without him  live no lite.'             Puedo sufrir. Sin el  vivir no puedo."
               So saying. from thc tree her step she turned.         Hablando asi. del árbol se separa
            But first low reverence done, as to the Power            Haciendo reverencias al poder

            Into the plant scicntial sap. den ved                    La científica savia derivada
            From  néctar, drink of Gods.  Adam thc while.            Del  néctar de los dioses.  Pero Adán
            Waiting desirous her return.  had wove                   Anhela su regreso y ha tejido
            Of choicest flowcrs a garland.  to adorn   840           Florida, una guirnalda como adorno
            Her tresses. and her rural  labours crown.               A sus trenzas y  premio a su trabajo
            As reapers oft are wont their harvest-queen.             Cual suelen los que siegan a su  reina
            Great joy he promised to his thoughts. and  new          Se promete gran gozo y nuevamente
            Solace in  her return. so long delayed;                  Solaz con  un  regreso que se alarga.
            Yet oft his heart. divine of something ill.              Su corazón,  no obstante, augura  males
            Misgave him.  He the faltering measure felt.             A’  recela. Con  paso apresurado
            And  forth to meet her went. the way she took            La senda sigue que ella recorrió

            Carne prologue, and apology to prompt.                   Avanza,  presentando explicaciones
            Which. with bland words at vvill, she thus addressed:-   Diciéndole con blandas expresiones:
    214        Hast thou  not wondered. Adam. at  my stay?           “¿No te asombras. Adán de mi tardanza?
            Thee  I  have missed. and thought it long. deprived      Te eché de menos y se me hizo largo
            Thy presence-agony of love till  now'                    Sin ti.  Fue una agonia del amor
            Not felt.  ñor shall be twice; for never more            Jamás sentida y no repetiré.
            Mean  I  to try. what rash untried  I  sought.   860     No volveré a buscar lo que busque:
            The pain of absence from  thy sight.  But strange        El dolor de tu ausencia.  Pero extraña
            Hath been the cause, and wonderful to hear:              La causa ha sido y digna de escucharse:
            This tree is not. as we are told. a tree                 El árbol, como oímos,  no es un árbol
            Of danger tasted.  ñor to evil  unknown                  De peligros ni a males ignorados
            Opening the way. but of divine cffect                   Conduce;  mas de efectos superiores
            To open eyes. and  make them Gods who taste;             Para ver y ser dioses, quien  lo pruebe.
