EG - 66 Engine section – Engine (Cummins ISF3.8)

• Measure the bore diameter of the installed camshaft bushing.
Bore diameter of camshaft bushing
Minimum: 54.083mm
Maximum: 54.147mm

Caution
If the camshaft hole on which the camshaft bushing is
installed is outside the technical specification, remove the
camshaft bushing and check the camshaft hole.

h. Check whether there is cavitation erosion and drawing
stamp on the journal of each bearing of cam of valve.

i. Check whether there is crack on the journal of each
bearing of cam of valve.

j. Check whether the edge wear ranges of the camshaft
exceed the standard.
Within ± 20 ° of convex side of camshaft, the area of edge
wear shall not be larger than the area equivalent to the area
of the circle with a diameter of 2mm.

k. Beyond 20 degrees of convex side of camshaft, the area
of edge wear shall not be larger than the area equivalent to
the area of the circle with a diameter of 6mm.
Caution

If there is any evidence of cavitation erosion or wear on the
camshaft, remove the tappet and inspect it before installing
the camshaft. If a new camshaft is installed, a new tappet

must be installed.
