THE POWER OF THE HEADLINE
Your copy’s HEADLINES need to do 3 things:
1. STOP the reader in their tracks
2. Make a PORMISE that INTERESTS
3. Evoke CURIOSITY
Each HEADLINE NEEDS to have these 5 essential qualities:
1. Grabs the reader’s ATTENTION
2. Screens & Qualifies the reader (are you MY audience?)
3. Draws readers to the BODY
4. Communicates the “BIG IDEA”
5. Established credibility
Now let’s dive DEEPER into these essentials, and how to execute them for optimal results!
1. Grabs Attention
Make a CLAIM or a PROMISE!
Now before you start in with the “Make $500-$1000 per week” BS, that isn’t the type your copy
needs to be SELLING!
Evoke an emotional response
Stir up the curiosity
Examples:
Can You REALLY Be Younger Next Year?
Which of These 5 Mistakes Do You Make In Your Blog?
Using the first example, let’s break down this HEADLINE:
First, you made an indirect claim. Can you be younger next year? Clearly, the following copy
will contain the HOW you can be!
Second, you evoke an emotional response, people don’t like getting older, and many won’t
believe you can BE younger next year.
