271 í×êîë here being used as a verb. 272 þë¼ here should not be explained as Eiver, the son of Sheim. Thus identifying
Sheim as the grandfather of Eiver’s children, because, wasn’t he also the grandfather of his other children’s children? 267 ó−ëíñ is from the root ëíñ—flame. 268 How is it that the Plishtim [Philistines] descended from two nations?
Therefore þë¼ should be translated as “the other side.” (G.A.) 273 ñîðèí [the older] is ambiguous. It could refer to 269 Ber. Rab. 37, 5. 270 I.e., besides those already mentioned in verses 15–18. (S.C. from M.) Gur Aryeh explains
