                  They then had bricks to use as stone, öÓë flÖêÐñ·íÖòÑëÐlÔíó¥ÓíÖñ−¶ÌíÐzÔî                   placed it on their shoulders, ó flÓí−ÑòÐLó¤Ó×ÐL-ñÔ¼·eô− ¶ÌNÖiÔî
                            and the clay for mortar. :þÓô ÞÒìÔñó£ÓíÖñí'Ö−Öíþ flÖôÑì¤ÔíÐî                         and walked backwards, ³−flÌpÔþ¤ÒìÎê·e×ÐñÞÑiÔî
      4. Then they said, “Come, we will build ourselves a city, þ− †Ì¼eò¤Öl-íÓòÐëÌò|íÖë¤Öíe„þÐôêÞÒiÔî.ð  covering the nakedness of their father. ó¢Óí−ÌëÎ곤ÔîÐþÓ¼³£Ñêe–qÔ×Ð−Ôî
           and a tower whose top will reach the heavens. óÌ− flÔôÖMÔëB ¤LêÒþÐî·ñÖcÐèÌôe                       They faced away from him, ³−flÌpÔþ¤ÒìÎê·óÓí−ÑòÐõe
                  Thus we will make ourselves a name, ó¢ÑLeò£Öl-íÓNμÞÔòÐî                     and did not see the nakedness of their father. :e ÞêÖþê'Gó£Óí−ÌëÎê³'ÔîÐþÓ¼Ðî
                       so that we will not be scattered ±e£õÖò-öÓt                           24. Noach awoke from his wine [induced sleep] B¢ò−ÑiÌôÔì£Òò±Óš−'ÌiÔî .ð×
                        all over the face of the earth.” :±ÓþÞÖêÖí-ñÖ×− 'ÑòÐt-ñÔ¼               and he realized what had been done to him B£ñíÖN'Ö ¼-þÓLÎê³§Ñê¼Ôð–ÑiÔî
                   5. Adonoy descended to see the city þ−£Ì¼Öí-³Óê³'ÒêÐþÌñíflÖîÒíÐ−ðÓþ¤ÑiÔî.í                      by his youngest son. :öÞÖ¬ÖwÔíB'òÐa
                                    and the tower ñ¢ÖcÐèÌnÔí-³ÓêÐî                                        25. He said, “Cursed is Canaan. öÔ¼¢ÖòÐkþe¤þÖêþÓôê£ÒiÔî .í×

                                     For mortar.  .øÆîÉçÇì                                      [Meaning:] The worthless and contemptible one  ,−eïÖaÔíÐî ñe½ÖtÔí
                    For the purpose of plastering the wall.  :þ−ÌwÔíÔìe¬Öñ                                            as [in the verse]:  :BôÐk
                  [4] So that we will not be scattered.  .õeôÈðïÆt [ã]                         “For I have made you the smaller among nations,  óÌ−BbÔaE−ÌzÔ³ÐòöÒ¬ÖšíÑpÌí
             [Meaning:] that He not bring some plague on us  ,íÖkÔô óeL eò−ÑñÖ¼ê−ÌëÖ−êHÓL                most contemptible among men.” 247  :óÖðÖêÖa −eïÖa
                              to scatter us from here.  :öêÔkÌôeòÑ®−ÌõÎíÔñ                                    [25] Cursed is Canaan. 248  .ïÇòÈðÀk øeøÈà [äë]
                    [5] Adonoy descended to see. 303  .úBàÀøÄì'äãÆøÅéÇå [ä]                            [Noach said to Cham:] “You caused me  ,−ÌñÖzÐôÔþÖèíÖzÔê
                     He [actually] did not need to do this.  ,CÔ×ÐñCÔþЮeí êG                    to be unable to beget a fourth son to serve me.  ,−ÌòÑLÐnÔLÐñþÑìÔê−̼−ÌëÐþöÑa ð−ÌñBê êHÓL
                         This is intended to teach judges  ,ó−Ìò−ÖiÔcÔñðÑnÔñÐñêÖëêÖlÓê              [Therefore,] may your fourth son be cursed  −̼−ÌëÐþÖíEÐòÌa þeþÖê
                            not to convict the accused  öBðÖpÔí e¼−ÌLÐþÔ−êHÓL                   that he serve the descendants of these older ones  ,ó−ÌñBðÐèÔíelÑêñÓLóÖ¼ÐþÔï³ÓêLÑnÔLÐô ³B−ÐíÌñ
         before they have seen [the case] and understood [it].  .eò−ÌëÖ−ÐîeêÐþÌiÓLðÔ¼      upon whom the burden of serving me has now fallen.”  .íÖzÔ¼Ñô−̳ÖðBëμìÔþB¬ óÓí−ÑñμñÔheíÓL
                [This is found] in Midrash R. Tanchuma. 304  :êÖôeìÐòÔ³−ÌaÔþLÔþÐðÌô                          Why did Cham castrate him?  ?B½ÐþÑqÓLóÖìíÖêÖþíÖôe

                                                                                                                 and one killed the other  íÓï³ÓêíÓïèÔþÖíÐî
                Perhaps the children of donkeys or camels?  ?ó−ÌlÔôÐèe ó−ÌþBôÎì−ÑòÐëêÖnÓL
