                He split the wood of the burnt-offering, í flÖñÒ¼−¤Ñ®Î¼·¼ÔwÔëÐ−Ôî

 And since it states here “many days,”  ,ó−ÌaÔþó−ÌôÖ− :ë−̳ÐköêÔ×Ðî  that Elohim had designated to him. :ó−ÞÌíGÍêÞÖíB'ñ-þÔôÞÖê-þÓLÎê
 [it means] more than the preceding days [in Chevron].  ó−ÌòBLêÌþÖíñÔ¼ó−ÌaeþÐô  4. On the third day, − †ÌL−ÌñÐMÔíóB¤iÔa.ð
 Scripture does not intend to be indefinite  óBzнÌñ ëe³ÖkÔíêÖëêGÐî
 but, to be clear;  ,LÑþÖõÐñêÖlÓê  Avraham raised his eyes î−§Öò−Ѽ-³Óêó«ÖíÖþÐëÔêê ¶ ÖOÌiÔî
 and if [the “many days”] would be  e−ÖíóÌêÐî  and saw the place from afar. :š ÞÒìÖþÞÑôóB £šÖnÔí-³ÓêêÐþ'ÔiÔî
 two or more years [rather than one]  þѳB− Bê ó−ÌòÖL−ÑzÐLóÓí−Ññμó−ÌaeþÐô  5. Avraham said to his attendants, î−†ÖþÖ¼Ðò-ñÓêó‚ÖíÖþÐëÔêþÓôê¶ÕiÔî.í
 it would clearly have stated so.  ,óÖLÐþÖõÐôíÖ−Öí
 [Therefore,] you must admit  EÎìÐþÖkñÔ¼Ðî      é"ùøAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
                  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RASHI
 that they did not exceed by more than one year,  ,íÖòÖMÌôþѳB− ó−ÌþѳÐ−óÖò−Ñê
 making it a total of 26 years.  ;íÖòÖL î"× −ÑþÎí  without commanding one of his servants [to do so]  ,î−ÖðÖëμÑôðÖìÓêÐñíÖeÌ®êGÐî

 There are some Sages who say 413  :ó−ÌþÐôBê eò−ѳBaÔþÑôLÑ−  travel without two people  ,ó−ÌLÖòÎê’ëêGÐaCÓþÓðÐñ³êÑ®Öñ
 [that this event occurred:] “After the words 414 of Satan”  ,öÖ¬ÖNñÓLî−ÖþÖëÐcþÔìÔê  so that if one needs to attend to his needs  î−ÖëÖšÐòÌñðÖìÓêÖíCÑþ֬ЮÌ−óÌêÓL
 who said accusingly, [to God],  :þÑôBêÐîèÑþЬԚÐôíÖ−ÖíÓL  and move off to a distance  ,šÑìÔþгÌ−Ðî
 “From all the feasts that Avraham prepared,  óÖíÖþÐëÔêíÖNÖ¼ÓLíÖðe¼Ð½ñÖkÌô  then the other will remain with him. 438  :Bn̼−ÌòÑMÔííÓ−ÐíÌ−
 he did not offer to sacrifice to You  E−ÓòÖõÐñë−ÌþКÌíêG  He split.  .òÇwÇáÀéÇå
 a single bull or ram.”  ;ðÖìÓêñÌ−ÔêBêðÖìÓêþÔt
                      Onkelos translates it ìÔlÔ®Ðî [he split]  ,ìÔlÔ®Ðî BôeèÐþÔz
 He [God] responded to him,  :Bñ þÔôÖê  as in “eìÐñÖ®Ðî [they split] the Jordan,” 439  ,öÑcÐ þÔiÔí eìÐñÖ®Ðî :BôÐk
 “Does he do anything but for the sake of his son?  ,BòÐañ−ÌëÐLÌaêÖlÓêíÖNÖ¼ óeñÐk  a term denoting cleaving,  ,Ô¼ew−Ìa öBLÐñ
 Yet, if I were to say to him,  :Bñ þÑôBê −̳−Ì−Öí el−Ìê  fendre in Old French.  :ï"Ô¼ÔñÐa ê"þðò−õ
 ‘Sacrifice him to Me,’ he would not refuse.”  .ëÑkÔ¼ÐôíÖ−ÖíêG,−ÔòÖõÐñ B³Bê ìÔëÐï

       Why did He delay from showing it to him immediately?  ?ðÖ−Ìô B³BêÐþÔíÐlÌôþÔì−ÑêíÖnÖñ
 “After the words of Yishmael”  ,ñêѼÖôÐLÌ−ñÓLî−ÖþÖëÐcþÔìÔê
                          So that people should not say  :eþÐôêÒ−êHÓL−ÑðÐk
 who would boast to Yitzchok  šÖìÐ ®Ì−ñÔ¼þÑêÖtгÌôíÖ−ÖíÓL
              that He suddenly perplexed and confused him  óBêгÌtBëÐaÐþ̼ÐîBôÖôÎí
 that he was circumcised when he was thirteen  íÖòÖL è"− öÓañÖnÓL
                             and he became deranged  ,BzмÔc¹ÔþÖ¬Ðî
 and offered no resistance.  ,íÖì−ÌôêGÐî
                   and, had he had time to contemplate it,  ,BaÌññÓêCÑñÖnÌíÐñ ³eíÖLBñíÖ−Öí el−ÌêÐî
