                       until you return to the ground í flÖôÖðÎê¤Öí-ñÓê·EÐëe ÞLð¥Ô¼                              17. To the man He said, þ †ÔôÖêó¤ÖðÖêÐñe .ï−
               for from it [the ground] were you taken. ÖzÐì¢ÖwŠñíÖp£ÓnÌô−'Ìk                          “Because you listened to your wife, ›E›ÓzÐLÌêñB¤šÐñ ‡Özм‡ÔôÖL−¤Ìk
           For you are dust and to dust you shall return.” :ëe ÞLÖzþ£ÖõÖ¼-ñÓêÐîíÖz flÔêþ¤ÖõÖ¼-−ÞÌk  and ate from the tree which I commanded you, ·E−¶Ì³−ÌeÌ®þ¥ÓLÎê± flѼÖí-öÌô·ñÔ×ê¶ÒzÔî
        20. The man called his wife’s name Chavah, [Eve] í¢ÖeÔìB£zÐLÌêó'ÑLó§ÖðÖêÞÖíê«ÖþКÌiÔî.×              saying, ‘Do not eat from it;’ ep¢ÓnÌôñ£Ô×êÒ³ê'Gþ flÒôêÑñ
                                                                                                     the soil will be cursed because of you. E flÓþeëμÞÔë·íÖôÖðÎêÞÖíí¥ÖþeþÎê

                                                                                                           In sorrow you shall eat from it íÖp fl ÓñÎ×ê ÞÒz·öBëÖv̼Ða
                         all seed-yielding herbs, etc.” 218  ?’îèî ¼ÔþÓï¼ÑþBï ëÓNѼñÖk³Óê                       all the days of your life. :E−ÞÓiÔì−'ÑôÐ−ñ£Òk
                      But, [let us see] what is stated here  öêÔk þeôÖêíÖôêÖlÓê                  18. It will grow thorns and thistles for you; C¢ÖñÔì−¤ÌôЮÔzþ£ÔcÐþÔðÐî±B'šÐî .ì−
                       at the beginning of this narration:  :öÖ−Ðò̼ÖíLêÒþÐa                         and you will eat the herbs of the field. :íÞÓðÖOÔíëÓN'Ѽ-³Óê £ÖzÐñÔ×ÞÖêÐî
                   “The soil will be cursed because of you,  EÓþeëμÔaíÖôÖðÎêÖííÖþeþÎê
                        in sorrow you shall eat from it.”  ,íÖpÓñÎ×êÒz öBëÖv̼Ða

                                 And after this pain:  :öBë̼֮ÖíþÔìÔêÐî
                  “It will grow thorns and thistles for you.”  CÖñÔì−ÌôЮÔzþÔcÐþÔðÐî ±BšÐî            And, yet, you will not have the audacity  ìÔ®ÑôCÖñö−ÑêöÑ×−ÌtñÔ¼¹ÔêÐî
              [I.e.,] when you will sow beans and vegetables  ³BšÐþÔ−Bê³−ÌòЬ̚íÖpÓ¼ÖþÐïÌzÓLÐk             to demand it outright from him,  ,íÓõÐaB¼ÐëB³Ðñ
                                     in the garden,  íÖpÌb                                               but, rather, “he will dominate you.”  ,CÖañÖLÐôÌ− êeíÐîêÖlÓê
                   it will sprout for you thorns and thistles  ó−ÌþÖcÐþÔðÐîó−Ì®Bš CÖñÔì−ÌôЮԳê−ÌííÑpÌí  [I.e.] all [the initiative] will come from him  epÓnÌôñÒkÔí
                        and other vegetation of the field  íÓðÖNÔí−ÑëÐN̼þÖêÐLe                                    and not from you. 213  :CÑnÌôêGÐî
             and you will have no choice but to eat them. 219  :óÑñÐ×êÒzEÎìÐþÖkñÔ¼Ðî                                    Your desire.  .CÅúÈ÷eLÀz
                    [19] By the sweat of your face. 220  .EéÆtÇàúÇòÅæÀa [èé]                                        [Means] your desire  ,CѳÖîÎêÔz
                     [Meaning:] After you will toil much.  :íÑaÐþÔíBaìÔþЬÌzÓLþÔìÔêÐñ                   as [in the verse] “His soul desires.” 214  :í֚њBL LÓõÓòÐî :BôÐk
                              [20] The man called.  .íÈãÈàÈäàÈøÀ÷ÄiÇå [ë]                       [17] The soil will be cursed because of you.  .EÆøeáÂòÇaäÈîÈãÂàÈääÈøeøÂà [æé]
              Scripture now returns to the earlier narrative,  :öBLêÌþÖíBòÖ−Ðò̼Ðñ ëe³ÖkÔíþÔïÖì         It will produce cursed things for you  ,ó−ÌþeþÎêó−ÌþÖëÐðEÐñíÖñμÔô
                           “And man gave names. . .”  ,³BôÑLóÖðÖêÖíêÖþКÌ−Ôî                                   such as flies, fleas and ants.  .ó−ÌñÖôÐòe ó−ÌLB¼ÐþÔt ,ö−ÌëeëÐï :öBèÐk
                     It was interrupted only to teach you  ,EÐðÓnÔñÐñêÖlÓêš−̽ÐõÌíêGÐî           This is comparable to one who adopts evil ways  ,íÖ¼Öþ ³eaÐþÔ³ÐñêÑ®B−ÐññÖLÖô
                    that as a result of the calling of names  ³BôÑL³Ôê−ÌþК−ÑðÐ−ñÔ¼ÓL                         and people curse the breasts  óÌ−ÔðÖL ³BñÐlÔšÐô ³BiÌþÐaÔíÐî
                  he was mated with Chavah, as is written:  :ëe³ÖkÓLBôÐk,íÖeÔìBñíÖèîÐeÔcÐïÌò                  at which he was suckled. 215  :óÓíÑôšÔòÖiÓL
                 “But the man found no helper for himself.  ,BcÐèÓòÐkþÓïѼêÖ®ÖôêGóÖðÖêÐñe      [18] It will grow thorns and thistles for you.  .CÈìÇçéÄîÀöÇzøÇcÀøÇãÀå õB÷Àå [çé]
       Consequently: “[He] caused unconsiousness to fall . . .”  .íÖôÑcÐþÔzñÑtÔ−ÔîCÖ×−ÌõÐñ                      [This refers to] the earth.  .±ÓþÖêÖí
                       And as a result of it being written:  :ëÔ³ÖkÓL−ÑðÐ−ñÔ¼Ðî
                                                                                                        When you will sow any kind of seeds  ,ó−̼ÖþÐï−Ñò−ÌôíÖpÓ¼ÖþÐïÌzÓLÐk
                        “The two of them were naked,”  ,ó−ÌneþμóÓí−ÑòÐLe−ÐíÌiÔî                 it will sprout thorns, thistles, dardar and kundes  ,³BiÌëÖkÔ¼Ðî½ÖcÐòeš þÔcÐþÔðÐî ±Bš Ôì−ÌôЮÔz
             it is followed by the narrative about the serpent  ,LÖìÖpÔí³ÖLÖþÖõBñCÔôÖ½          which require special preparation to be eaten. 216  :öew−̳−ÑðÐ−ñÔ¼ ó−ÌñÖ×ÍêÓòöÑíÐî
                         to let you know that as a result  CBzÌnÓ LEμ−ÌðBíÐñ
                                                                                                    And you will eat the herbs of the field.  .äÆãÈOÇäáÆNÅòúÆàÈzÀìÇëÈàÀå
                             of seeing them unclothed  ,ó−ÌôeþμóÖ³Bê íÖêÖþÓL
                                                                                                            Why is this considered a curse?  ?Bï ê−ÌííÖñÖñÐwíÔôe
                                   and seeing them  óÖ³Bê íÖêÖþÐî
                                                                                                          Does it not state in his blessing: 217  :Bñ þÔôÍêÓòíÖ×ÖþÐëÌaêGÎíÔî
