Thank you, LIONS, for allowing me the joy and privilege of serving as your
District Governor this past year. It has truly been a gratifying and humbling experience to work with you and to see all of the things you do to make your communities stronger and more compassionate. Lions do it all. Whatever our community needs, we are there to help, and our neighbors appreciate those efforts.
We just returned from our State Lions convention in San Antonio, and I am proud to let you know that the youth representing District 2-X1 continue to do us proud by demonstrating a positive attitude and maturity. Our youth contestants, Jones Kalarickal from Irving DFW Indian Lions Club and Safal Lamichhane from Dallas Everest Lions Club, continued District 2-X1’s winning ways with Jones winning the Outstanding Youth Contest and Safal winning the Drug Awareness Contest. Both represented the District and their sponsoring Clubs very well.
The Dallas Founder Club added a new member and the newest Lion in the State of Texas. Lion Randy Kempf was inducted by CC TJ Tijerina and PID Mike Butler at the celebration banquet. Welcome Lion Randy!
Also at the State Convention, I had the opportunity to present a check for $100,000 to the Texas Lions Camp. The money was a gift from the Stephen Sanders family in memory of their husband and father. The funds will be used to help expand and improve TLC facilities, so that more campers can enjoy the benefits of an experience at TLC (for more convention highlights and pictures see pages 22, 23 and 24).
May saw us welcome a new club into our District. Dallas Frisco Indian Centennial Lions Club had their charter night on May 7th with PCC John Eads doing a great job of inducting the new club members. The Club has already done several projects to help the less Continued page 3)
