The naturopathic profession has emerged from ancient roots and diverse lineages to the present where it continues to grow and thrive. This chronicle in timeline form reveals the patterns of naturopathic medicine’s professional formation. It demonstrates the living nature of history and its influence on the present
and future through pathways and benchmarks of professional development within the broader sociocultural context.
This dynamic chronology traces our origins and development with a particular emphasis on the modern (post-WWII and post-1970) era of naturopathic medicine and its profession’s emergence and formation.
This timeline documents an ongoing evolution and will always be a work in progress. Moreover, this retrospective engagement in collective reflection enriches the profession’s awareness of its foundations, and the important moments, stories, organizations, concepts and people who have shaped the present and the trajectory ahead into a vital, responsive, and prosperous future.
