CDC OF TAMPA, INC. DEDICATES LEARNING LAB
Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. (CDC of Tampa) recently held the dedication ceremony for the grand opening of its East Tampa Learning Lab. The event was held at the Audrey Spotford Youth and Family Center, 2631 E. Lake Ave, Tampa. The lab, made possible through a $15,000 donation received from IGT Afterschool Advan- tage Program, focuses on common core subjects while also providing opportunities for students who do not have a computer at home to access the MyOn reading program. Students will also be able to use the lab for ACT, SAT and FSA test preparation, as well as look up and apply for jobs online and access financial education software. Among those who participated in the ribbon cutting, from left to right: Don Creley (Tampa District Manager, Florida Lottery); Ed Narain (Manager, AT&T); Denese Meteye James, Cynthia Few and Evangeline Best (all Board Members); Ernest Coney (Pres- ident/CEO, CDC of Tampa, Inc.); Albert Lee (Board Member); Cedric McCray (Legislative Aide, Councilman Frank Red- dick); Tamara Shamburger (School Board Member); Pastor Timothy Kemp and John Sykes.
