THANK YOU, LIONS, for a great District Convention!!! Your enthusiasm,
participation, and spirit made this a wonderful convention. ID Alan Lundgren was an inspirational speaker as he brought a message of change and how each of us can help our association continue to grow in service and pass on our spirit of service to the next generation of Lions by listening to them and being willing to change. He also mentioned some of the things that will be coming July 1st, as LCI rolls out LCI Forward and some new tools to help us do a better job with social media and communicating.
Council Chair TJ Tijerina helped us to learn more about how to retain our members by creating programs to increase member satisfaction and the value of being a Lion. We do a great job of recruiting; we need to do a better job of giving our members a reason to stay. We need to put new members to work as part of our Service Teams.
Congratulations to Lion A. P. Haridas of the DFW Irving Indian Lions Club, our Lion of the Year for 2016-2017 (see page 34). Lion AP is always willing to help and truly embodies the Lion Motto of “WE SERVE”. Thank you, Lion AP, for all you have done to support the efforts of Lions throughout the District.
Congratulations as well to the Dallas Everest Lions Club, our Club of the Year for 2016-2017 (see page 34). These Lions have accomplished so much this year. They established a new and vibrant LEOs club, put on their first vision clinic, participated in District events and charities, had contestants in the District youth contest, grew their membership, and, most importantly, had fun!
Lions serve, and as I write this article our District Alert team is preparing to put their training into use as they wait to hear from officials in Van Zandt county whether or not they will be needed to support volunteer efforts in Canton, where a tornado struck on (Continued page 7)
